Guitarist and
composer Henrik Lindqvist grew up in Bromölla, Sweden, during the ‘70s. He
started out playing the piano, but after hearing the rock band KISS for
the first time he got inspired to pick up the guitar at the age of
twelve. Taught by classical guitarist Pär Lindkvist, Henrik was
introduced to a new world of music and quickly expanded his vocabulary on his
new instrument.
Henrik’s reputation
steadily grew as he started performing with local blues and rock bands in
southern Sweden. He joined Bromölla Classical Guitar Quintet
and Bromölla Big Band, playing numerous high level concerts. Henrik's interest in jazz was awakened when he
heard the great Joe Pass. After being accepted as a student at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston,
MA, he decided to take a chance and make the move to the United
States. He was one of a few students selected to study under jazz
master Mick Goodrick, whose former students include guitar greats like John
Scofield and Mike Stern. Another Berklee instructor who had a lasting influence
on Henrik was fusion phenomenon Wayne Krantz (Steely Dan, Michael Brecker).
After graduating from Berklee
with a
bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) in Professional Music, Henrik
started performing extensively all over New England with acts like Concrete
Canyon, Tony Gaboury Group, Nickelsen / Kristoffersson Jazz
Band, Little Boy Blue, Jazzline, and Blues Inc. He rekindled his
love for classical music by joining forces with classical / flamenco guitarist
Jozsef Halajko. After playing a few recording sessions for singer-songwriter,
drummer and producer Alex Schaetzing and appearing on his second album “Danger
in the Sky”, Henrik was invited to work as a session guitarist at Vagrant Gleam
studio in Boston. As a result, Henrik started appearing on recordings by
numerous international and local artists, including Russian folk legend Vladimir Shukin,
Dutch TV star Kizzy Getrouw, Erik Harper, Rafel Kasinski, and many others.
Henrik also formed his own band, the critically acclaimed instrumental rock trio
Henna. In addition, he joined the touring band of Yellowrose Music Worldwide
recording artist Joya, and appeared on her recent debut album “Soul Candy”.
Henrik's masterful
guitar playing can also be heard on his own independently released CD’s
“The Journey” and “Noonday Dreams”. During the last two years, he has been
secretly composing songs and tracking demo’s for his new album. This highly
anticipated new record promises to take his career to new heights…
